Anthem Periodontal and Dental Implants

A Periodontist Is Always the Right Choice
There are many dental procedures you can trust to your family dentist ranging from routine cleanings to fillings and extractions. His level of education and training is more than ample for this type of work. In fact this is the type of dental work he specializes in. While he may have attended a few weekend or even weeklong seminars, this does not qualify him to perform the work of a Las Vegas Periodontist. This would be akin to asking your family GP to perform neurosurgery.
It Is All in the Training
In order for a dentist to specialize as a periodontist, he must attend college for significantly longer than one who wishes to remain a family dentist. To become a dentist, a person must spend a minimum of six years in college. The person must first earn their bachelor's degree, which generally takes four years. This is followed by an additional two years in dental college. It is also where the vast majority of dentists stop attending college and go into general practice.
For those who are interested in continuing their education and becoming a periodontist, this requires three more years of education and training before going into practice. The majority of those who choose to continue their education earn their Ph.D. Many family dentists will attend a number of "training" seminars covering periodontology over the course of their careers. However, when you compare seminars to three years of intensive training at college level, it becomes easy to see why attending a few seminars is really not enough.
Training Seminars Are Not Enough
While periodontology seminars are very commonplace and conducted with the right intentions, they fail to provide the most important aspect of any form of training. This is the hands on aspect, the point at which the dentist is exposed to handling the various periodontal procedures while under the close supervision of a highly skilled periodontist. This person's job is to be watching their trainee every step of the way. It is also to be there in case a problem should occur.
Three years of very intense hands on and classroom training prepare a periodontist to handle all forms of dental work which involve going in under the gums and into the jawline. This includes procedures such as placing Dental Implants Las Vegas to replace one or more missing teeth, as well as creating complete upper and low implant sets. Given the complexity of this kind of work, you should always seek out a fully trained and certified periodontist such as Dr. Ed De Andrade, DDS of Anthem Periodontics and Dental Implants.
